At the center of the circular driveway is a stone bench placed in recognition of the efforts of Jim and Doris Greenacre to preserve and restore the Water Works buildings, beginning in 1986. Originally, the bench was located under the large cottonwood tree but was moved to its present location in 2014 to remove the danger of being struck by a falling tree limb.

The Water Works property was listed on the State Register of Historic Places in 1999.
