“Thanks so much for hosting your great July 4th event. We loved listening to the music while our kids played games on the lawn. What a great way to celebrate.”

“My 2nd grade daughter toured the Avery House on a school field trip last week and she insisted that our entire family come to see it. She learned so much on the school tour that she had fun telling us all about things while we toured the house!”

Recently, a visitor from Alaska toured the house and upon return home she emailed us, writing "When we were visiting Ft. Collins, we had the opportunity to take a tour of the Avery home which I had remembered from my childhood; Mr. (Edgar, son of Franklin and Sara) Avery used to give us lifesaver candy when we got out of church. I was around 8 yrs. old; I was born in 1945. Thank you for bringing to life old memories."

“I love the history of our community and the Historic Homes Tour is a great opportunity to see the inside of history and learn more. The properties PLF supports are wonderful.”

“The Winter's Lace program at the Avery House was so interesting. I had no idea of the intricacy of the lace. And the scones were fantastic!”

“I'm passionate about history, architecture, design, and Fort Collins, and PLF ties these topics together.”

“I love history, especially Fort Collins history, and I want to support those kinds of activities so we can educate our youth and provide reminiscences for adults.”

“As a newcomer to the area, PLF is a good way for me to learn the area and also the history.”

“I have found great pleasure in working with the Poudre Landmarks Foundation and the Friends of the Water Works over the past 15 years. It has been exciting to participate in the archeological digs and discoveries. Interpreting the history of the 1882-83 Fort Collins Water Works to visitors has been very rewarding.” - Phil Hoefer, Friends of the Water Works

“The Poudre Landmarks Foundations' restorations of the historic 1879 Avery House and the 1882 Water Works are two of the premiere historic preservation projects in northern Colorado that have put Fort Collins on the national historical tourism map...The PLF is to be commended for their dedication and award winning contribution to history education in Fort Collins.” - Carol Tunner, 20 year Fort Collins Historic Preservation Planner, retired

“Fort Collins is fortunate to have an organization like Poudre Landmarks Foundation. PLF delivers on its mission to preserve Fort Collins' architectural and cultural heritage. The two City owned properties PLF manages represent a fascinating combination of a private residence and a public utilities structure. The Avery House and the Water Works are gems of historical preservation and interpretation. PLF keeps all these alive for Fort Collins residents and visitors. - Craig Stith, President, Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society (The Trolley)”

“Our 2nd graders study the history of Fort Collins as a unit of study, and the Avery House is the perfect place to visit to learn about the way of life in Fort Collins 100 years ago. The Avery House accommodates students upstairs and downstairs, showing unique artifacts and as many home furnishings and objects that may have been found in the Avery's home in the late 1800's. The wonderful docents truly understand the curiosity of 2nd graders, and make the home come alive for our students.” - Deborah Taylor, 2nd Grade Teacher, Dunn Elementary School

“Wow, did they really live here? I liked the kids' bedrooms. They had cool toys...”

For a very modest budget, we have a large impact on our community based on the number of people participating in our programs: touring the Avery House and the Water Works; attending our special events such as Valentines Day and Fourth of July celebrations and our Holiday Open House; viewing the Annual Historic Homes Tour, holding weddings and other special events at the Avery House, and numerous other activities.

Our budget heavily relies on our financial supporters. We would very much appreciate your spreading the word about us with your family and friends as well as any businesses and their employees. Let them know about our historic Avery House and Water Works and holding personal and company events at the Avery House.

Of course, Poudre Landmarks Foundation would greatly appreciate your financial support. Every amount helps. Thank you.
