The President is the chief leadership position on the Board of Directors and is responsible for guiding the governance, strategic direction, and overall effectiveness of the Board. The President works in close partnership with the Executive Director to ensure alignment between Board governance and organizational operations, and to support the long-term mission and sustainability of the organization. A strong appreciation, passion, and love for local history and historical preservation is essential in this role. The President position is a two-year responsibility as part of a three-year board commitment.
Expectations:
The President is expected to provide executive-level leadership in support of the organization’s mission, integrity, and strategic direction. The President is an active participant and works closely with the Board of Directors in governance responsibilities, including voting on Board matters, maintaining confidentiality of Board discussions (when appropriate), and serves as a visible leader and ambassador within the community, acting in the best interest of the organization at all times. This role, like other Board positions, is expected to volunteer at least one time per calendar year at a special event or open house.
Time Commitment:
Leadership positions are expected to contribute up to 15 hours per month in service to Board responsibilities, meetings, preparation, and organizational support. This includes:
● Monthly meetings of the Board of Directors held with the Executive Director - Second Monday of each month (except July/December) from 5:30 - 7:00 pm, in-person attendance in downtown Fort Collins (hybrid Zoom opportunity available)
● Additional quarterly Executive Committee meetings, as applicable
● Participation in additional Board meetings or all-day retreats as scheduled and approved by the Board of DirectorsAttendance is preferred at key organizational events, including (but not limited to):
● Volunteer Appreciation Picnic (August)
● Volunteer Appreciation Holiday Party and Celebration (December)Responsibilities:
This role serves as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and the Executive Director, ensuring clear communication and effective implementation of Board policies, decisions, and strategic priorities. This position strengthens Board engagement and accountability, supports a well‑structured committee system, and provides leadership in Board development, recruitment, and succession planning. It also helps cultivate a strong culture of governance, collaboration, and mission alignment across the organization.Strategic Vision and Leadership
The ideal candidate will:
● Collaborate with the Executive Director and the Board to refine and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff, and priorities are aligned with Poudre Landmark’s core mission
● Lead Board meetings and ensure they are organized, productive, and aligned with governance priorities, while facilitating Board discussions to support clear decision making
● Work closely with Executive Director on Board meeting agenda, distribution of Board meeting materials, and attend monthly check-in meetings
● Lead establishment of Board priorities, annual goals, and strategic directionCommunity Engagement and Advancement Support
● Actively support the organization through personal and professional networks
● Assist in identifying and cultivating potential sponsors, donors, and community partners
● Leverage professional connections to support fundraising initiatives, sponsorship development, and organizational visibility

The Treasurer is a leadership position on the Board of Directors, responsible for providing financial oversight, strategic fiscal guidance, and ensuring the financial health and accountability of the organization. The Treasurer works closely with the Executive Director and Board to support informed decision making and long-term sustainability. A strong appreciation for and love of history is essential in this role. The treasurer position is a two-year responsibility as part of a three-year board commitment.
Expectations:
The Treasurer is expected to review and present financial materials at monthly board meetings to provide executive-level oversight of financial reporting and planning. This role serves as guidance to the Board in understanding the organization’s financial position, risks, and opportunities, while utilizing financial management systems, like QuickBooks, for financial recordkeeping. The Treasurer is expected to review the organization’s annual IRS Form 990 prior to filing and support organizational compliance with Colorado Department of Revenue requirements, charitable registrations, tax filings, and other applicable reporting obligations. This role, like other Board positions, is expected to volunteer at least one time per calendar year at a special event or open house.Time Commitment:

This role manages the finances of a $250k non-profit organization, while serving as the primary Board liaison for bookkeeping, accounting, and tax support services. The Treasurer will provide strategic guidance on financial sustainability, reserves, and long-term planning, while overseeing the preparation for any annual financial review, compilation, or audit, as applicable.Financial Leadership and Oversight:
● Lead oversight of budgeting, financial reporting, and financial policy development
● Take a leadership role in the development, review, and presentation of the annual operating budget in partnership with the Executive Director and staff support
● Guide the Board through budget planning discussions, assumptions, and approval processes
● Ensure the annual budget aligns with strategic priorities and long-term financial sustainability
● Monitor income, expenses, and cash flow in alignment with Board approved budgets

The Member-Elect is an active participant and works closely with other Board members in governance responsibilities, including voting on Board matters, maintaining confidentiality of Board discussions (when appropriate), and acts in the best interest of the organization at all times.
