The families raised chickens for eggs and, eventually, their meat. This chicken house was built in the early 1900s and likely replaced the original chicken house. Staves from old wooden water pipes (which were not part of the first Water Works) were recycled and used for construction. The roof was repaired with a rolled roofing material in 2014.
