Join us for an event series surrounding the 35th Annual Historic Homes Tour.
The subject of this presentation and discussion is 'Architectural Darwinsm: Fort Collins Evolves'.
This event is separately ticketed and will be held before the tour on September 10, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Edwards House Montezuma Room, 107 N. Meldrum St. in Fort Collins.
Houses change over time, and the older the house, the more likely it is that something has been done to change its character or function. Open porches are enclosed, kitchens are remodeled, enlarged, or moved entirely. Windows and doors are often removed or replaced. What clues should you look for to determine a previous layout or function? How did older homes offer comfort during very hot or very cold weather? Learn all this and more during our third annual architecture presentation and discussion!
Speakers include local historians Barbara Fleming, Robin Stitzel, and others. Each home on the tour will be discussed, as well as a discussion of Fort Collins history, and general architectural styles & terms. Tickets are $10 and available separately for purchase below or at the door.
