Activewear: Getting Outside in Northern Colorado from 1870 to 1960
Avery House, June 18 through September 18, 2022
One of the greatest draws of Northern Colorado is its beautiful and diverse landscape. Locals and visitors alike have been getting outside to play and work here for hundreds of years, engaging in skiing, hiking, picnicking, ranching. These activities often require specific garb, and what was fashionable or appropriate certainly has evolved through the years. An excellent example is the bicycling outfit a woman may have put on at the turn of the 20th century - it allowed her to engage in a new freedom of movement that would only grow throughout the coming century. Come see a Victorian bicycling outfit with an 1895 bicycle and learn more about the history of activewear at the exhibit Activewear: Getting Outside in Northern Colorado from 1870 to 1960. The exhibit also includes a special item from Dr. Temple Grandin. Opening June 18, 2022, visitors can enjoy this exhibit during the Avery House’s normal hours of 11:00 am – 2:00 pm on Saturdays, 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sundays. Masonville Mercantile will have a special exhibit up in the Carriage House during opening weekend.
